Abstract

Application of AWA Anti wetting agent to Magnetic recording heads. The invention aids in the improvement of reliability the head disk interface . A coating of a low surface energy material is applied onto the slider surface. This maybe achieved either by a dip coating technique or by sputtering. The fluoropolymers have an acrylate backbone with fluorine termination this allows good "sticking" and low surface energy on the coated surface. The application of the coating allows similar energetics for the head and the disk surface energy of about 11-15dynes/cm). This allows a reduced pickup of lube on the head. The current disclosure involves the application of the coating to the data head to help improve the tribology of the head disk interface. 1
