Abstract

This publication describes a means by which a complex object description can be adapted generically to an actual instance of a final datamodel. A datamodel description can be represented by any markup language, such as XML or a properties sheet, such as a Java properties object, or any manner conducive to the authoring and population of said data. The finalized object can be represented by a serialized Java object, a CORBA object, or any other entity that represents some consumable instance of a data container. The key based object adapter is a means by which to efficiently tie together these uniquely separate representations of the same datatype. The adapter creates a common key that maps together the container of the datamodel descriptor to the instance of the datamodel. This allows continuity between various representations of the datamodel descriptor and various instances of the datamodel in a neutral manner. By consuming multiple and uniquely different datamodel descriptions and mapping them to a single key instance, the object adapter is able to generically create various and unique instances of said datamodel. 1
