Particles Analysis System for Hard Disk Drive

Disclosed is a devise for analysis of particles and oil droplets in HDD

(Hard Disk Drive). The devise is designed to make an constant airflow

without outside airborne particle in HDD and lead the generating particle

and oil droplet with airflow when drive is working in various conditions,

and to quantify their number by particle counter and capture them by

impactor in order to qualify by SEM/EDX, FT-IR etc. at the same time.

Fig.1 shows the whole image of Particle Analysis System. Particle filter was applied at inlet of airflow in order to avoid the outside airborne particle, and fitting tube is settled with epoxy adhesive (Fig.2) at both Seal Side and Seal Particle (Fig.3). Then particle seal should be broken with needle just before a test.
