Abstract

Resource Mgmt Skills Search Process for Available Resources Disclosed is a process for requesting, searching and tracking to closure request for specific skills within a Resource Management System database. The requests are for specific skills for specific projects. The search looks through the inventory of available resources for a match of those resources with the right skills for the particular project. This "Resource Request Process" provides a standardized template by which search information is created, executed and tracked. The request transitions through various states within the process towards fulfillment, partial fulfillment, or no fulfillment, and finally closed out. The problems solved include automation of a manually labor intensive set of disparate steps confined to only those persons known to the requester of the resources. This process provided a consistent means of describing requirements such as skills, roles and location for projects) so that a search of the database could be efficiently performed. The request transitions through several states (assignment to search managers, feedback, negotiation, etc.) prior to closing the request. The process is detailed as follows:

A Requester (project manager, resource manager, etc.) initiates a Request document, identifying

items such as the amount of resource required, the type of skills/knowledge/roles that are needed, and the proposed time frame for the associated project. (State = "New")
