Enhancing call waiting

The invention gives consumers more choices for enabling/disabling call waiting features as well as giving the consumer more information when call waiting is enabled.

Features provided by this invention are:

Call waiting interrupt feature based on long distance versus local call, area code or

state, such that only a specified type of call can interrupt.

Call waiting interrupt feature based on who the user is actually talking to on the

telephone. Certain phone number could be registered such that if the user is on the phone with one of them, the call waiting feature would be automatically disabled.

If it is determined based of this history that the user is not likely to want to take this call, the caller will either be prompted as to whether they really want to interrupt, or will be given a busy signal.

Call waiting interrupt feature based on who initiated the call. Call waiting would be

automatically disabled for either incoming or outgoing calls, based on the user's preference.

Time based or number of calls based interrupt. If someone calls multiple times while
