Abstract

Disclosed is a method for virtual coordination covering multiple on-line shopping systems. It aims at providing means for evaluating commodities from multiple shopping systems using virtual reality technology. A typical instance of this method is a virtual fitting system where a user can try to fit on clothes, shoes, and/or accessories from different shopping systems at once (on a single model). It can also be used for coordination of any kind of goods including electric equipment, furniture, etc. In the case of coordination for electric equipment and/or furniture, a model of room will be used instead of human model. Fig.-1 is a typical configuration of virtual coordination system. Generate virual fitting image Select com m odities (put in a cart) Purchase com m odities

System Configuration

Virtual Coordination System : A virtual coordination system provides the following functions : - accepts a virtual model of user, and registers it in a database - receives commodities information to be put in a consolidated shopping cart - creates a fitting image with received commodities - accepts requests to change dress, rotate model, or select/deselect commodities

- notifies the corresponding shopping system of selection/deselection of commodities

Virtual Model : A virtual model is a model of person and used to generate the fitting image. It may be registered by the user to the virtual coordination system. This invention does not specify the format of model nor the way of registration. According to the recent research papers, there is a way to build a 3D model from 2D photo data.

Consolidated Shopping Cart : A consolidated shopping cart is allocated to each user and keeps the commodity information received from shopping systems. It virtually consolidates multiple shopping carts from a plurality of shops where the user is visiting and trying to fit commodities.

Shopping System : A shopping system is a generic shopping system for a standalone shop or shopping mall with multiple shops. When a user logs in the shopping system, a shopping cart is allocated to the user, and the user can select commodities to put them in th...
