Abstract

Disclosed is a system for improvement of the accessibility of Web contents. The system provides the method to check the inappropriate text equivalent and the integrated environment to assist web author to repair errors. As the social attention on accessibility becomes large, several regulations and law are legislated to improve the accessibility of Web contents. In the US, Web authors have to follow the Section 508 [1]. The improvement of accessibility is required not only for new contents but also for existing contents. Because most of existing Web contents are more or less inaccessible, repairing process would take too much time. In particular, much of existing Web contents contains a lack of a text equivalent, e.g. "alt" attribute for an image, for non-text element. Furthermore, the number of the missing text equivalent is significantly large. An intelligent method to provide an appropriate text equivalent for non-text element is required to realize the accessibility repair.
