Abstract

Glass Master Case Skate: The Photo Lab department and all related support departments use cases made of Aluminium or PVC to carry Glass Masters from area to area for various engineering projects and for manufacturing. These Glass Masters are used in Photo Etching processes that imprint circuitry on large panel substrates. The cases with a master inside are about 30 lbs in weight and are difficult to carry for any distance. The personnel that transport these cases often slide them along the floor because of personal fatigue. Our invention is to build "Skates" that would be used to roll the cases making it easier for the operators to transport them around. An added benefit of the invention would be less wear and tear on the Glass Master Cases due to sliding them on the hinge end. The cases cost approx. $1000 and are not easy to obtain due to cost restraints. The skate will be made with one fixed wheel at each end to allow easy rolling and cornering. The case will rest inside of four spring loaded uprights that will grip it just enough to keep the skate attached during transport. Please see attached sketch. .
