Abstract

A software program, Construction Bid Software (CBS) is disclosed that uses entities and data from architectural databases as input to construction cost estimation, eliminating the need for manual estimation based off blueprints. The CBS program is extensible to all aspects of construction including but limited to plumbing, framing, electrical, sheet rock, roofing etc. The CBS program is used by sub-contractors to bid specific portions of a construction project. Sub-contractors enter values for cost of material and labor rate as well as a rate of completion (ex. how many square feet can a person do per unit of time). The CBS program uses the architecture extracted data and the contractor input to generate the bid. Additional costs such as insurance, taxes, workman's compensation, construction loan interest etc can also be added in by the sub-contractor. The information flow is shown in the diagram below.
