Simple Print Registration Screen for Continuous Forms Printers

Disclosed is an application that easily allows a customer to make registration changes

in the location of the print because of minor changes in the position of pre-printed forms

on a roll of tractor-fed paper. On several current continuous-feed printers the operator

must enter the registration values based on X and Y coordinates. This invention

reduces the print registration training time by presenting the print registration function

as a more intuitive function.

In a typical embodiment this invention would present the print registration function in the following manner:

Initially the operator orients herself by using the icons (the arrows, graphic displaying the location of the tractor holes) and the text displaying the paper feed direction. Having oriented herself the operator presses the buttons which increase and decrease the X and Y values for the registration. The direction of the arrows map into the direction that the print will move. As the user presses these arrows the graphic will move in the window, allowing the user to preview these changes.

To further increase the ease of adjusting the print registration, the user has a choice of units to move the text (pels, inches, mm). Also, the print setup that will be affected by registration changes is prominently displayed.
