Abstract

Disclosed is a method to make stiffer coil for HDD actuator. The effectiveneses of this method are as follows : Stiffer coil Tigher control of coil thickness Coil should be pressed after being heated by applying current or being in thermal chamber. By being heated, adhesive layer in coil will be melted down again and by being pressed, each coil wires start to bind together more rigidly, resulting in stiffer coil.

Coil should be pressed after being heated by applying current or being in thermal chamber. By being heated, adhesive layer in coil will be melted down again and by being pressed, each coil wires start to bind together more rigidly, resulting in stiffer coil.

W/ stiffer coil, higher butterfly mode frequency of actuator can be achievable. Simultaneously, coil thickness can be controlled tightly by pressing. The variation of thickness become less. The less the variation is, the less the gap between VCM magnet and coil can be,
and higher torque constant of VCM can be achievable.
