Abstract

A program is disclosed that solves the following problem: In standard SAP R/3, if you want to check any IDOC's structure, you can only display the structure on segment level. If you need information about the fields and values included in each segment, you need to double-click on each an every segment seperately. By doing this, you get a new screen including all fields and values that are contained in this segment. Depending on your screen resolution and the number of fields in the segment, it might be that not all fields are displayed on one screen, but you even have to page down. First problem is that clicking on all segments which you are interested in and scrolling up/down in the fields screen is very time intensive and awkward. Besides, a second problem is that it's not possible to either print an overview of an IDOC down to field and value level containing IDOC type-IDOC segment-Segment field-Field Value or save/download the IDOC structure down to field and value level. A third problem is that in standard SAP R/3 you can only display the complete IDOC (complete means all segments) and no limitation on one or more segments which you are interested in is possible.

Efficient Method for SAP R/3 IDOC Handling

The disclosed solution is a program implemented in SAP R/3's coding language ABAP 4. This program will be executed by using a so-called transaction code which has to be defined by the user using the so-called SAP Workbench.
