Automated Method to compare SAP R/3 IDOCs

A program is disclosed that solves the following problem: In standard SAP R/3, if you want to know if and where two IDOC's differ, either in their structure or in segment/field names, you can only do this by displaying the first IDOC and then the second IDOC and finding out the differences 'manual'.

If you want to be able to display two IDOCs at the same time, there is no way to do this. You don't have the possibility to display two IDOCs at once to compare them
(e.g. in a kind of split screen technique). First problem is that displaying one IDOC after the other and comparing them 'manual' is very time intensive and awkward.

Besides you can not print and/or download just the differences in the IDOCs directly out of the system.

The disclosed solution is a program implemented in SAP R/3's coding language ABAP 4.

This program will be executed by using a so called transactioncode which has to be defined by the user using the so-called SAP Workbench.

If you use this newly defined transaction you will get into a screen to restrict the total IDOC amount to more specific ones using selection criterias.

Meaningful examples for selection criterias could be the following: - IDOC numbers - IDOC segments (one or multiple choices can be entered) - IDOC fields (one or multiple choices can be entered)

After the needed selection has been made the two IDOCs will be compared and only the different segments/fields will be displayed in the fo...
