Keyless Entry of Cash Register Receipt Information into Personal Financial Software Products

Personal financial software products are very popular, but these financial packages are only as good as the information entered. In order to get information from cash register receipts into their financial software:

users manually enter the information from cash register receipts into financial software running on a Personal Computer (PC)
or users manually enter the information from cash register receipts into financial software running on a Personal Digital Assistant (PDA), and then later transfer this financial data from the PDA to financial software running on a PC.

This manual entry of data is time consuming and error prone.

This invention eliminates the need to manually enter information from cash register receipts, thereby saving time and eliminating the errors associated with the manual entry of data. By equipping cash registers and PDA's with wireless technologies (infrared for example), transaction information from cash registers can be transferred directly to a PDA, and software on the PDA can convert the transaction information from a format understood by the cash register, into a format understood by financial software running on the PDA.
