Abstract

Output of the PZT on a milli-acutator is used to (1) detect head/disk contact during load/unload operation, (2) detect friction between the slider and disk during flying, (3) determine the disk profile (4) determine which slider loads and/or unloads first in a multiple head system. Also, a multiplexing system to measure the output of the individual PZT, if desired. The milli-actuator is used as a built in sensor.
