   Disclosed is an invention that enhances the capability of existing SCO(Self Check Out) systems.

Existing SCO systems are only used as a convenience for customers check out the items they are purchasing at an unattended lane. The disclosed invention extends the capabilities of the SCO system beyond the function of just checking out items at an unattended work station.

The enhanced capability is to allow the SCO system to dispense additional goods at the time of checkout via the SCO system.

Disclosed is a SCO system that has an integrated dispensing mechanism. The dispensing mechanism would vary depending on the type of item that is being purchased. For Phone cards and Gift cards, variations of existing Credit Card/Smart Card Test Devices could be used. A similar mechanical dispenser mechanism could be used for CD's, DVD's and existing state of the art dispensing mechanisms could be used to dispense movie tickets, tickets to TicketMaster events, and Postage Stamps. In all of the above examples, the items would be dispensed through a slot on the face of the SCO system.

The disclosed invention works as follows: At the end of a sales transaction, prior to the Tender Entry phase, the GUI display on the SCO prompts the customer: "Would you like to purchase any of the following selections:"
- Phone Card
- Gift Card
- Movie Tickets
- CD (music or software) featured selections - DVD's (movies) featured selections
- Postage Stamps
- TicketMast...
