Abstract

Disclosed is a method to realize a business application collaboration system using a desktop collaboration system such as Lotus Sametime, *1 Microsoft Netmeeting. A business application will need the following features: A required application window must be automatically shared. An operator is prohibited from accessing the private objects such as icons, a wall paper at customer's desktop. First purpose of this method is to provide a feature that the window has the keyboard and mouse focus is always automatically shared, since all the objects on the desktop will be shared on dekstop collaboration system, second purpose is to provide a feature that an operator can not access to the private objects except the windows required by a business application on the shared desktop.

First purpose of this method is to provide a feature that the window has the keyboard and mouse focus is always automatically shared, since all the objects on the desktop will be shared on dekstop collaboration system, second purpose is to provide a feature that an operator can not access to the private objects except the windows required by a business application on the shared desktop.

The advantage of the first purpose extends the usage of desktop collaboration for a business application collaboration system.

The desktop collaboration system provided by Lotus Sametime has the following two type of collaborations:

1. Whole desktop collaboration

whole desktop can be shared.
2. Part of desktop collaboration(provided by Lotus Sametime)

       a part of desktop specified by the share window client area can be shared, the share window is provided by Lotus Sametime.

The two embodiments of the method are discussed below.

Thease embodiments are realized with a runtime module downloaded from the web server, it provides the following features:
1) Shared application window automatic selection

A foreground window has a keyboard and mouse focus, almost PC users have the best interest in the foreground window at the time so that it is automatically selected to be shared.
2) Shelter window to hide private objects

A full screen sized window(hereafter, shelter window) is created to prohibit from accessing the private objects,

the shelter window can not be focused as if it receives mouse or keyboard event.
