Abstract

When the calling party is connected to a wrong destination then this could be caused by dialing one (or more) wrong digits (mistyping problem) or because the number itself does not correspond to the desired destination (wrong information). So the question is: Was the dialed number wrong or not? For a POTS-subscriber (without display), no information about the dialed digits can be retrieved. For an ISDN-subscriber or a POTS-subscriber with display, for which also COLP (COnnected Line identification Presentation) is active as feature, the called party is displayed. When also other display functions are active (like AOC or displaying the name of the called party), then the digit information is (depending on the used device) no longer visible.

Verbal announcement of dialed digits

Idee: Bart Walleyn, B-Gent

When the calling party is connected to a wrong destination then this could be caused by dialingone (or more) wrong digits (mistyping problem) or because the number itself does not correspondto the desired destination (wrong information). So the question is: Was the dialed number wrongor not?

For a POTS-subscriber (without display), no information about the dialed digits can be retrieved. For an ISDN-subscriber or a POTS-subscriber with display, for which also COLP (COnnectedLine identification Presentation) is active as feature, the called party is displayed. When also otherdisplay functions are active (like AOC or displaying the name of the called party), then the digitinformation is (depending on the used device) no longer visible.

Today the described problem is solved by using the feature COLP (COnnected Lineidentification Presentation). This feature is only usable for ISDN subscribers or POTS subscriberswith a display device.

The idea to solve this disadvantage is, to use a specific (access) code (during or after the call)whereby the dialed digits are given via a verbal announcement.

The advantage of the idea is, that there is a clear information about the dialed digits. Especially forvisual handicapped people is the idea very helpful, because any display is not usable. Thesepersons can now easily verify if they dialed the right number.
