Abstract

First and interval (FAI) reporting for CCS7 traffic measurements is defined by Q.752. The output necessary for the operator may be invisible because of similar events (in which the operator is not interested). First And Interval reporting is a measurement reporting mechanism used to report CCS7 routing failures and is described in ITU-T recommendation Q.752. This mechanism is implemented in EWSD for SCCP measurements in V8.1W and this was carried over into the baseline in V9.

Filtering on FAI reports

First and interval (FAI) reporting for CCS7 traffic measurements is defined by Q.752. The outputnecessary for the operator may be invisible because of similar events (in which the operator is notinterested).

First And Interval reporting is a measurement reporting mechanism used to report CCS7 routingfailures and is described in ITU-T recommendation Q.752. This mechanism is implemented inEWSD for SCCP measurements in V8.1W and this was carried over into the baseline in V9.

Different routing failures are counted separately (e.g. syntax error, destination inaccessible, destination congested...).

The FAI mechanism will generate following reports if a specific SCCP routing failure occurs:

· The first time that the routing failure occurs, a “first” report is output. This report containsdetailed information on die failure such as a message dump of the failing message, the callingand/or called party address, the exact spot in the software where the failure was detected. This information should allow the Operator to correct the problem.Remark that subsequent failure reports are suppressed (only the counter is incremented).

· At the end of the measurement interval, a ,,summary“ report is displayed (see pic.1). Thisreport only contains overview information. Per counter, the total number of failures isdisplayed.

It seems that this mechanism in practice sometimes is not sufficient to...
