Manage e-mails with e-labels

Disclosed is a method and system, the electronic label method and system, for effective management of electronic mails with electronic labels. An electronic label is an electronic component attached to the electronic mails. The users can put a concise remark relating to the electronic mail into the corresponding electronic label for easy reference. The electronic label system provides the user the means to create, update, delete, search, and sort the electronic labels.

With the rapid growing of the electronic mail systems, the users of the electronic mail systems send and receive plenty of emails everyday. Different emails requires different actions from the receiver. With a large amount of emails, the users tend to forget the status and the plan about the emails and it is difficult to search a particular email. The electronic label method and system provide a way for the users to manage and organize every email with electronic labels and to achieve better efficiency.

The users of the electronic label system perform the following operations to use electronic label.

The users can create a label for a particular email. The users can edit the labels and put a concise note in the label for future reference. For example, the user can put "reply by Friday," or "related to the sales issue Bob is working on," or "wait for Jane's reply," etc, in the label for every email. The users can update the labels if needed. The users can read, search, and sort the labels. The users can search and sort the emails based on the labels. The users can delete the labels when it is not longer needed.

The electronic label system is based on a labeling storage component, a central handling unit, a user input unit, and a display unit. Figure 1 shows the architecture of the system.
