Method for a delatch fixture for a component latch on a PCBA with limited clearance space

Disclosed is a method for an delatch fixture for a component latch on a printed circuit board assembly (PCBA) with limited clearance space. Benefits include improved functionality and improved ergonomics.

Background

Conventionally, operators are using their thumb to open the latch (see Figure 1). Ergonomics concerns are being solved through job rotation to prevent repetitive motion fatigue for the operator and the use of gloves during the work process.

Description

The disclosed method is a delatch fixture for unlatching a component latch on PCBA with limited clearance space. The method is a fixture with a handle capable of unlatching a component latch (see Figures 2 and 3).

With the delatch tool, the requirement for job rotation is eliminated. Additionally, ergonomics concerns surrounding the process are eliminated.

Advantages

The disclosed method provides advantages, including:

•         Improved functionality due to providing a method for unlatching the component latch on a PCBA

•         Improved ergonomics due to eliminating repetitive motion fatigue for operators
