Disclosed is a system for IPv6 load balancing system using MobileIPv6 (*1). By using enhanced home agent as a coordinator of load balancing system, multiple servers on different links provide network services at same IPv6 address.

By using MobileIPv6, mobile nodes on different link (MN_A and MN_B) and home agent of these mobile nodes are the components of this load balancing system. MN_A and MN_B are conifugred to use same home address (HomeAddr) and same home agent (HA). Fig. 1 illustrates the topology of this system and Fig. 2 illustrate the block diagram.

Both MN_A and MN_B are activated as a mobile node, they send binding update to HA

to create a binding. After HA receives binding updates from MN_A and MN_B, HA knows the addresses of these mobile nodes. Now, HA knows MN_A has an address, AddrA and MN_B has an address, AddrB at the atteched link. And HA also knows MN_A and MN_B have the same home address, HomeAddr. Regular home agent doesn't store two addresses per one home address, so home agent must be enhanced to manage these addresses of mobile nodes. A correspondend node (CN) send a packet to HomeAddr.

If HA gets a packet from a correspondend node (CN) destined for HomeAddr, HA

selects MN_A or MN_B and forwards the packet. After receiving the packet forwareded by HA, MN_A or MN_B starts signaling with CN to use MobileIPv6 route optimization. After finishing this signalling successfully, MN_A or MN_B communicate w...
