Abstract

Currently, access to the image of a patent requires a user to open a program or webpage and entering the number. These operations, although easily accomplished, are time consuming and possibly distracting. For greater ease of use, improved efficiency and to save time a right click menu choice is suggested that provides automatic access to patent images.

Patent Image access via a right click menu choice and or a hot key selection

Currently, access to the image of a patent requires a user to open a program or webpage and entering the number. These operations, although easily accomplished, are time consuming and possibly distracting. For greater ease of use, improved efficiency and to save time a right click menu choice is suggested that provides automatic access to patent images.

When working on the personal computer, whether creating or reading one may come across a patent number and wish to see the patent. Currently one has to open an application or a website and enter the number in order to view the patent. The idea presented here is to provide a right mouse button menu choice that will open an image of the patent directly. To use this feature, one simply highlights a patent number, right clicks in the highlighted area, and selects ‘View Patent’ from the drop down menu. This is convenient and efficient, and avoids distractions.

Implementation may be by connecting to the existing public patent data sources such as the US Patent Office or the European patent office. Alternatively it may be implemented through existing subscription based patent data providers.
