Abstract

Disclosed is an idea to build large-scale and stabilized calculation resources by using the automobile PCs (which is used as the car navigation or the information terminal) and by gathering them virtually with highway infrastructures, such as an electronic toll collection (hereinafter referred to as ETC) system.

   Fig. 1 is a functional block diagram of an idea. A job management part, a job storage part and an execution information storage part exist in a job server connected with the ETC systems installed in the tollgates or the service areas. The job management part which can be implemented by developing exclusive software can manage division of the jobs sent from user's clients and combination of execution results. The job storage part can manage storing the jobs before and after division and the execution results before and after combination and can be implemented it by file system and relational database (hereinafter referred to as RDB). The execution information storage part which can be implemented by file system and RDB can manage storing information, such as execution time and the number of execution jobs. A Job management/execution part, a job storage part and an execution information storage part exist in an automobile PC connected to the ETC equipment. The job management/execution part manages the usage of CPU of automobile PC and manages its execution of jobs. This function is implemented by developing the software of exclusive use. The job storage part which is implemented by file system and RDB can manage storing the jobs before execution and after execution. The execution information storage part which is implemented by file system and RDB can manage storing information, such as execution time and the number of execution jobs. A client can be implemented by developing exclusive software or the browser.

Fig. 2 is a flow chart of the side of the job server after receiving a job from the client until it sends a job to the automobile PC. Each functional block operates like the following (1) - (5).
(1) A user sends a calculation request as a job from a client software.
(2) The job server's job management part saves the job which sent from the client in the job storage part.
(3) The job management part divides the job saved by (2) into the size can be sent to the automobile PC.
(4) The job management part saves the job divided by (3) in the job storage part.
(5) The job management part takes out the job saved by (4) and sends to the automobile PC.

Fig. 3 is a flow chart of the side of the job server after receiving an execution result from the automobile PC until it sends an execution result to a user's client. Each functional block operates like the following (1) - (6).
(1) The job management part receives the execution result and execution information which the automobile PC sent.
