Abstract

This is a method of controlling specific settings of a mobile station from a local base station. The appropriate setting of the mobile station is determined by the location of the particular mobile and is then transmitted periodically to the mobile station via a dedicated radio path. This idea makes it unnecessary for the mobile subscriber to manually change their settings depending on the environment in which they are located.

Abstract

This idea makes it unnecessary for the mobile subscriber to manually change their settings depending on the environment in which they are located.

Introduction

This paper describes improvements in the field of mobile telephony and how, a particular mobile station settings are controlled automatically based on the environment in which the mobile station resides.

Problem(s) To Be Solved

This paper describes a process of changing mobile station settings automatically based on the needs of an indoor locality yielding optimum value to subscriber. Automation of this description is not available today to subscribers.

Proposed Solution to the Problem(s)

This idea requires a dedicated telecommunications indoor solution as a prerequisite (e.g. a pico-base station connecting to a radio network controller using the existing Iub interface according to 3GPP specifications). As part of this indoor solution the equipment shall facilitate the setting of quiet or noisy environment for example.
On entering area of indoor coverage the MS (mobile station) shall initiate a location update procedure (every 6 sec.)....
