This software system is an integrated approach designed to manage PC/inventory information. The software is designed to use HTTP protocol and DB2 database to scan and store asset information. The solution consists of modules for different objectives
a. Client software used to do a initial user, hardware and software inventory of PCs.
b. Client software asset information during IMAC (Install, Move, Add or change) activities performed at customer site by administrators.
c. Software installed to automatically scan PCs at regular intervals. Runs at PC boot-up.
d. Web-based data entry module for standalone PCs used by administrators.
e. Web-based query and reporting for customers to look at asset information.

The application of this software and related processes has the following advantages: 1. address shortcomings in existing standard inventory scanning tools like Tivoli and SMS.
2. provides a end-to-end, integrated and complete solution for tracking IT assets. It includes support for manual data entry as well as automated scan of assets and takes care of merging the two source of data into a single database.
3. allows the asset co-ordinator to track progress during a major wall to wall(physical asset verification) or change in the IT infrastructure.
