Disclosed is a method for a bail latch for a 10-Gb transceiver. Benefits include improved functionality, improved ease of use, and improved durability.

Description

         The disclosed method is a bail latch (see Figure 1) for a 10-Gb transceiver (see Figure 2). The latch rotates 20 degrees around the axis defined by the transceiver case. As it travels along the predefined slot of the faceplate, the slot forces the latch to close-in and recoil-out (see Figure 3). This motion enables the latch tip to move in (disengaged) and out (engaged) of the case.

         To install the module, ensure the bail is in the down position (see Figure 4) and plug the module into the system (see Figure 5). Rotate the bail upward to lock the module in place. Plug the cable into the module.

         To uninstall the module, remove the cable from the module (see Figure 6). Rotate the bail downward (see Figure 7). Pull the bail to remove the module.
