Background

Securing and/or ejecting larger cards into or out of the card edge connector is problematic. A conventional memory card is a rectangular card held by two latches. One latch is on each end of the connector (see Figure 1).

An improved ejector mechanism is required.

Description

The disclosed method is a connector with a latch that accepts regular and/or extended cards (see Figure 2).

         The key element of the method includes a feature to locate and lock in/or eject larger card size into/or out of the card edge connector (see Figure 3).

Advantages

         The disclosed method provides advantages, including:

•         Improved functionality due to enabling a larger card to fit into the existing connector

•         Improved functionality due to providing an extended latch that secures or ejects cards while allowing the use of conventional smaller size cards.
