Title:

Video Segments and Replay Option for Set-Top Box

Abstract:

Providing begin and end segment markers in recorded video and provide for continuous replay of the marked video segment.

Inventor:

Kin Annon Ryal

Description of the Invention:

1.      I have heard, from marketing people and managers, that certain segments of (certain) movies are just plain more interesting than others. Wouldn't it be nice if you could mark those segments and then replay them continuously.

2.      Requires a set-top box (STB) that had an attached hard disk (internal or external).

AV content is recorded from the head end or satellite using the DVR capability of the STB.

Provide in the media file system segment begin and end markers. These would be set in recorded video and would note the starting and ending point of a video segment. Provide a "replay" button, to start play of the marked segment.

This segment could be replayed continuously. When the end marker (or end) of the segment was reached, it would automatically loop back to the begin marker (or beginning) of the segment.

This segment could be the entire video content (movie).
