Abstract:

By adding a micro-processor, RAM, ROM, and an LCD display to a remote control, it can be programmed to be “Smart” and off-load functions from the television or set-top box. This remote control could be used to store album, artist, and title information from/for a CD changer.

Description of the Invention:

1.      This weekend, I had to Sort through a stack of CD jackets to find the particular album (disk) and song (track) on my Sony CD changer. This was annoying. Although some CD changers do display this information, it would be nice to have it "in hand.”

2.      By putting a micro-processor, RAM, ROM and an LCD display in a remote control, album, artist, and title information could be downloaded into the remote control. This information could be automatically generated by a CD changer that was capable of reading it from installed CDs, could be entered via personal computer (if one keeps an inventory of their CDs, or manually entered by user.

Once the information is stored, displayed on an LCD on the remote control. The remote control could be used for selecting individual songs by name, or for creating sequences of songs (again) by name, to be played by the CD changer attached to the stereo.
