I'm a Sony Employee with an idea that would help Sony Electronics leap even further ahead and help separate ourselves even more from the competition.

1.      The idea came about when I found myself missing parts of shows because I changed channels during a commercial. I do not know of any other way to alleviate this problem except for turning on Picture in Picture (PIP). At least one draw back would be that not all televisions have (PIP).

2.      My idea solves the problem because it gives the user a signal indicating the original program has returned. A button would be available to the user on the remote control that would need to be activated before changing the channel. By activating this button a green dot would appear in the lower left hand corner of the screen. The green dot would remain on the screen during the changing of channels. When the original channel resumes regular programming the green dot would begin flashing until the user returns to the original channel or the button on the remote control is pressed again to deactivate the feature.
