Abstract

This is a method of using a process which converts CAD and BOM data into SVG format ant then uses an Excel macro to link schematics, PWB, and BOM together. This allows the users to search for a part in the schematics, PWB, and BOM without opening the files in their native format. You can use the reference number and search in all three categories. A descriptor provides the description and information about the part number while a highlighted symbol and macro indicates the location of the part in schematics or PWB.

The first step is to install SVGmaker as a printer or print utility on the PCs for the design planners or hardware design engineers. After generating schematics and PWBs, they can utilize the SVGmaker print utility and generate SVG files. Then they can use our WEB page and upload the files to a secure location. At this time, BOM will be uploaded to the same location on the WEB.

The upload process is an interactive process and provides the users the options to select the links accordingly.

At this time, the WEB site recognizes when the upload is completed and utilizes a specified macro to compare the schematics, BOM, and the PWB. If there are any discrepancies, the system will output an error message, which will be checked by users. Once the users are satisfie...
