Summary:

    It is proposed to use a TV system or set-top box with two tuners. While a user is watching the event one of the tuners will be tuned to the program he is watching. However, meanwhile the second tuner can scan the available channels/transport streams/presets to find another station covering the same event. When such a station is found the system can switch to the alternate station when a commercial is aired on the preferred station, for example. Advantage:

    The main advantage is that easy and automatic switching between channels broadcasting the same program is achieved.

Background:

Live events (e.g. major sports events like formula 1, tennis or soccer matches) are often broadcasted by several TV stations (either digital or analog). Sometimes these stations are commercial stations that regularly interrupt the coverage of the event for commercials. Of course viewers prefer permanent coverage, but they also might prefer the commercial station
e.g. because it is in their native language, or better quality. Concept:
