A method for placing a title (subject matter content) on a
microfiche or at the end portion of a roll of microfilm.
The method basically comprises producing a master title
which includes all information relating to a series of
microfiche or microfilm rolls, and which will not change
from fiche to fiche or roll to roll. The master title
will include blank spaces for inserting information that
could be classified as changeable or variable information,
e.g., volume number, dates, fiche number, roll number, etc.
The operator, after photographing the master title, will
then on a cathode ray tube project all of the information.
The operator then photographs the cathode ray tube surface
onto the blank spaces provided on the master title so as
to complete all of the title information, As a substitute
for a cathode ray tube, other systems could be used for
providing the variable information on a screen, These
other systems include, for example, light-emitting diodes,
liquid crystals, nixie tubes, a ruticon system, or cry-
stalflex.
