Abstract

-A plural cleaning rolls assembly 10 for cleaning residual toner particles from a heated fuser roll 16 of a heated pressure fusing system. Copy sheet 40 bearing toner images 42 is advanced through the nip of fuser roll 16 and back~up roll 18. Back'~~uproll 18 has a metal core 30 surrounded by a thick rubber layer 32 and also a layer 34 made of Teflon. Fuser roll 16 which is internally heated by a lamp 25 includes a core 20 surrounded by a layer 22 made of Teflon.

An oil dispensing apparatus 45 includes a wicking assembly 48, an oil pan 50 for maintaining a supply of silicone oil
51 and an applicator roll driven by a motor 58 for dispensing
a thin film of oil to the bottom side 55 of the wicking
assembly.

Cleaning rollers 70 and 71 which are mounted on a carriage
are urged into contact with the fuser roll 16 by a loading
mechanism 75. Each of the cleaning rollers is rotatably
supported on a shaft which is connected to the carriage
by a flexure member which is mounted on a shaft journaled
in the carriage to enable independent flexing and align-
ment of the cleaning rolls relative to the fuser roll
surface.
