To control the flow of ferrous developer material
from a holding tank, an electromagnet is used to create
a magnetic field which causes the material to align
itself in a manner so as to restrict the flow in a
desired manner. In an electrostatic reproduction machine,
a low power solid state device coupled with the machine

logic can be used to control the electromagnet. Pro-
grainmed flow sequences are thus possible, making the
present arrangement useful in an automatic developability
control system as disclosed in U. S. Patent No. 3,757,999
for example.
