A thermally~tackifiable formulation, containing a dye or

pigment composition, is coated and dried on a substrate,
e.g., glassine. Portions thereof are pressed on the areas
of an original to be highlighted. The composite is subjected
to activating radiation, e.g., infrared, to tackify the
coating in the more heat-absorptive image areas, but not in
the background areas. The substrate is removed, leaving
the tacky colored coating atop the image. The original is
then reproduced.
