A cleaning composition comprised of an anionic surfactant
of the class of alkyl aromatic sulfonates, sulfated alcohol
and soap has been found suitable for cleaning photoreceptors,
In a copying machine, deposits composed primarily of toner

material and paper tars become fixed to the surface of the
photoreceptor and interfere with clear image reproduction.
The anionic surfactant has been found to be an effective
agent in cleaning such deposits from photoreceptors. The
composition of al]cyl aromatic sulfonate, sulfated alcohol
or soap may further include an abrasive, a perfuming agent,
an antifoaming agent, a break~in agent and water,

The principal compounds in the anionic class of alkyl
aromatic sulfonates are derived from alkyl benzenes and

naphthalenes produced from petroleum. These alkyl benzenes
and naphthalenes contain highly branched alkyl side chains,
principally dodecyl, although lower and higher homologues

are undoubtedly present to some extent. Examples of the
alkyl aromatic sulfonate class are sodium toluene sulfonate,
triethanolarnmonium dodecylbenzene sulfonate, alkylairimonium
dodecyl benzene sulfonate calcium salt of polymerized alkyl
benzene sulfonate, sodium di isopropyl naphthalene
sulfonate, sodium polymerized alkyl naphthalene sulfonate,
sodium dodecyl and pentadecyl sulfonates wherein the
dodecyl and pentadecyl groups are derived from a propylene
polymer...
