SHEET STRIPPER FOR FUSER ROLL

An improved sheet removal device for separating an image
bearing support sheet from the surface of a heated fuser
roll used in a xerographic apparatus is described, The
sheet removal device is adapted to move between the
surface of a heated fuser roll and an image bearing
support sheet carried thereon, the removal device having

a large surface, low pressure contact area with the fuser
roll surface, The sheet removal device is formed of a
material, for example, polytetrafluoroethylene, which is
incapable of mechanically or chemically interacting with
toner images brought in contact therewith thus preventing
the toner from adhering to the contact surface, Means
operatively associated with the sheet removal device may
be provided to engage and disengage the device as desired,

As illustrated in the accompanying drawing, sheet
removal device 30 rides upon fuser roll 11 in a large
surface contact area therewith, Full contact is made with
the fuser roll at all times during operation, The low
pressure and mass of the device permits it to ride on the
fuser roll without generating undue resultant forces despite
the fact that the point of contact is other than the tan~
gent of the roll, As shown, sheet removal device 30
comprises a body 41 of material which retains its integrity
