Abstract

A corona charging arrangement including a corona wire 51 supported within a shield 53 and air directing means 53 extending along the longitudinal dimension of the shield adjacent the photoconductive surface for creating an aeriform fluid barrier to prevent dust and toner particles from entering the interior of the shield via the gap between the shield and the photoconductive surface l0 The barrier is created by a flow of air across the gap toward said photoconductive surface and away from the shield0
