Abstract

A corona charging apparatus associated with a surface to be charged and including a corona electrode 3 impressed with a voltage from source 8 and a corona discharge control line 4 which may be insulative or conductive, and grounded or impressed with a voltage as from source 9 located adjacent to the corona electrode. The relative geometry of electrode and control line is variable, both angularly (7) and spatially (6) to control the charge pattern deposited on the surface.
