Abstract

An electrostatographic carrier particle may be obtained by providing a core having an average diameter of between 50 and 1,000 microns with a thin, continuous overcoating of a thermoplastic acrylic resin, The acrylic resin may have a weight~average molecular weight of between 70,000 and 500,000 and a glass transition temperature of between 60°Cand 110°C, The acrylic resin overcoating may be partially crosslinked and provides marked durability and adhesion of the over~ coating to the core, The core material may be glass, steel or similar metallic particles, The acrylic resin may be selected from monomers or copolymers of acryiates and methacrylates.
