Abstract

Disclosed is a simple, durable, inexpensive, equal arm balance scale specifically adapted for use by pre-~school children and by elementary school educational institutions~ The equal arm balance 10 is shown to comprise a support member 11 and an elongated beam constructed of interlocking members 13 and 14 secured together to form the elongated beam by slidably fitting tab 15 into slots 16 and 17, Tab 15 includes notch 18 which rests against a shoulder located within slot 16 when channel member 13 is inserted within channel member l4~ When tab 15 is completely inserted with~ in slots 16 and 17, opening 19 will be aligned with opening 20 thus forming a single opening for the insertion of pro- jection 21~ The elongated beam includes a plurality of ribs 22 which serve as calibration marks and allow the beam to be utilized to demonstrate the principles of the lever~ Ribs 23 which are larger than ribs 22 surround an area
