Abstract

A keyswitch which provides an indication of switch closure free of a hard stop condition, That result is achieved, as shown in Figure l.~ by providing a conductive elastomer layer 10 parallel to a movable keyswitch contact 12. The force-~displacementcharacteristic of the keyswitch (shown in Figure 2) is substantially linear until the movable contact 12 meets the elastomer layer 10, with the force required to produce additional displacement increasing greatly when the contact 12 and the elastomer layer 10 move together.
