Carl M, Cavitt Int. Cl, B65h 5/22

Debris such as paper clips and staples, associated with
the documents handled on copier work surfaces, can find
their way into the paper feed tray section of the units
and be carried into the machine interior. Damage to
drums, developer contamination and degraded copy quality
can result.

It is proposed that a bar magnet be positioned over the
paper tray area to catch such debris.
