Abstract

In an electrophotographic printing machine, the concentrat-~ ion of toner particles within the developer mix is controlled. The control system may employ two substantially transparent electrically conductive plates 10 and 12 defining a chute 14 therebetween, Plate 10 is substantially grounded while plate 12 is electrically biased to a suitable level to attract toner particles thereto as the developer mix passes through chute 14, Lamp 16 directs light rays through plates 10 and 12 onto photosensor 18. The electrical out-~ put signal from photosensor 18 is indicative of the concentration of toner particles within the developer mix. After development, the residual developer mix in chute 14 cleans the toner particles from plate 12.
