Abstract

Electrostatographic toner impacted carrier particles may be rejuvenated while in use in a copying machine as to improve developer life. To the developer housing containing carrier and toner particles are added abrasive cleaning beads whereby the mixing action of the developer housing causes the abrasive cleaning beads to remove impacted toner material from the surface of the carrier particles. The housing may be a separate off-line cleaning station into which developer material is continuously fed or fed on command with return of the cleaned carrier beads to the developer housing.
