Abstract

Strips I of foam rubber are helically wound about a cylin~' drical core 2 to provide a foam roll cleaning member for an electrostatographic reproducing machine. The strips 1 of foam rubber are spaced apart from one another to provide in addition to the cleaning action of the foam material a blade cleaning action caused by the edge 3 of the foam strip, Optimum cleaning should be obtained with a 45° helical winding. In operation the cleaning element is rotated.

Strips I of foam rubber are helically wound about a cylin~'
drical core 2 to provide a foam roll cleaning member for
an electrostatographic reproducing machine. The strips 1
of foam rubber are spaced apart from one another to provide
in addition to the cleaning action of the foam material
a blade cleaning action caused by the edge 3 of the foam
strip, Optimum cleaning should be obtained with a 45°
helical winding. In operation the cleaning element is
rotated.

The foam roll cleaner provides a dual cleaning action,
namely, the conventional action of a foam roll and an addi~
tional blade cleaning action contributed by the edges of
the helically wound foam strips 1.
