Abstract

A redox system is used to accomplish color change in an optical display system. A thin layer of Vanadyl phthalocyanine is coated onto one electrode of a cell, and the cell is placed in an aqueous solution of KC1. The pale blue coating changes to a black color upon the application of a voltage between the electrodes, When the ~potential is removed, the pale blue color returns.
