Abstract

Ribbon cartridges must be held in place during typewriter operation, but the clamping force applied is criticaL Too tight a force results in binding of the internal mechanism; too loose a force results in ribbon displacement. In the drawing, a cartridge clamp is provided which has an extended loop or bend in the generally central portion of the clamp. This loop provides a low spring rate and affords the necessary tolerances in the clamping force.
